Bowling Green | Poolside Pavilion Structure

The structure ties directly into the site’s geometry and material palette. Timber framing, arched braces, and a natural stone fireplace were selected to complement the home while establishing a strong architectural presence within the backyard.

Roof pitch and ridge height were calibrated to provide shade coverage without overwhelming the pool area. Integrated planning ensured structural loads, drainage patterns, and deck transitions were addressed before construction began.

Project Overview

Location: Bowling Green, Ohio

Site Condition: Create a defined covered gathering space integrated with the existing pool and patio layout

Structure Type: Freestanding timber pavilion

Primary Features: Full-height stone fireplace, exposed timber framing, integrated lighting and utilities

Role: Design, Site layout, structural planning, trade coordination, and construction oversight

Design Strategy

The pavilion was designed to integrate structurally and visually with the surrounding pool environment. Footing locations, masonry base walls, and deck elevations were coordinated in advance to prevent conflicts during installation.

Roof pitch and ridge height were calibrated to provide adequate shade coverage while maintaining proportion with the home. Timber framing details were selected to introduce warmth and architectural definition without overpowering the surrounding landscape.

Material transitions between stone, decking, and timber were planned before construction began, ensuring clean lines and long-term durability.

Construction Coordination

Foundation placement, masonry work, framing, roofing, electrical, and finish carpentry were sequenced to align with the existing pool deck and adjacent hardscape.

Structural connectors were concealed where possible to maintain clean visual lines while preserving load integrity. Integrated wiring for lighting, speakers, and heating elements was routed within framing cavities prior to enclosure.

Close coordination between trades ensured the pavilion tied seamlessly into the broader backyard build without disrupting existing elements.

Final Result

The completed pavilion establishes a defined outdoor living zone adjacent to the pool, combining shade, fire, and gathering space within one coordinated structure.

By aligning structure, masonry, utilities, and deck transitions from the outset, the finished build performs as a cohesive extension of the home rather than a standalone addition.
