Ottawa Hills - Primary Suite Remodel

A complete second-floor rework that turns a dated layout into a calm, highly functional retreat. The new plan adds a steam shower with thoughtful storage, a soaking tub niche, custom vanities, and a dialed-in walk-in closet. We paired warm wood tones with classic marble to keep the space bright but grounded.

Scope at a glance

  • New primary bath with steam shower, soaking tub, double vanity, and private water closet

  • Custom closet with integrated lighting, drawers, long-hang, shoe walls, and an ironing station

  • Make-up vanity built into the bedroom side for better flow and natural light

  • Updated guest bath to match the palette and details

  • Radiant floor heat and upgraded ventilation for true day-to-day comfort

Details that matter

  • Steam shower with bench, niches, and an attic-mounted remote blower for quiet, effective ventilation

  • Tile palette anchored by honed Carrara in a brick pattern, with a marble mosaic shower floor for texture and grip

  • Custom millwork: walnut-veneered vanity boxes with clean lines and durable interiors

  • Arched doorways at the entry and water closet soften the geometry and add character

  • Closet organization planned down to the shelf lighting, drawers, and boot storage so everything has a place

  • Floor heat in the primary bath to keep mornings comfortable
These elements were coordinated from the construction set through 3D visuals to keep decisions simple and the build clean.

How we approached it

We started with a clear layout that shortens daily routines: direct access from bedroom to bath to closet, with storage positioned where you actually reach for it. Early 3D views helped lock finishes and fixture placement, then we handed the team permit-ready drawings with elevations and tile takeoffs so pricing stayed predictable.

Materials and finishes

  • Honed Carrara wall tile with coordinating chair rail and pencil trim

  • Marble blend mosaic on shower floors

  • Walnut-tone custom cabinetry with streamlined hardware

  • Soft green wall accents to warm up the suite without losing light
